The idea is simple and clear. But in fact, it's quite more complex than it seems. In nature there are so many organisms, animals, plants, and each one of of them has its own unique characterists and features.
As a first step, the designer determines the functions his creation wants to fulfill and this is where Biomimicry comes to help him. Studing the nature and finding a creature that could be the guide to his design is a difficult process due to the big diversity found in nature. The designer has to find the "champion" of the organisms, the one whose structure corresponds to the functions of his design.
Once he has determined his inspiration, he has to improve these features and fit them to the requirements of his project. The whole process may require a lot of time and the consults of experts and biologists so that he makes sure that his approach to the problem is the best one found in nature.
The goal of biomimicry is to design finally a product that follows the norms of nature, its structure ant its organisms and is as harmonic and friendly to the environment as possible.
