The TELE_TRUST Data-Veil offers private, tangible place in public space,
to reconsider the private space as a mediated experience.
Parameters for the design:
- The Data-Veil is Gender Neutral – and One Size Fits All.
- The textile is beautiful and comfortable, and inviting to touch.
- The Data-Veil is a full body covering garment.
- The Data-Veil shows eastern and western traditions of public spaces’ full body covering garments.
- The veil is not meant to be theatrically outstanding. Without looking exceptional, one can wear
the Data-Veil in cultures where the full body veil is a normality.
- There should be a trustworthy ritual to step in and out the Data-Veil.
- The Data-Veil is a portal for discussion and triggers to participate.
There are 6 Data-Veils. For the visual design we collaborated with Amsterdam fashion designer AZIZ.
The Data-Veils combine visual elements of body covering garments from eastern and western traditions. They are inspired on a monkss’ habit, Darth Vader and a burqa. We questioned ourselves: ‘What kind of daily used costumes do we trust?’, and we choose textile and print which are traditionally used for business suits (98% wool, 2% elasthane).
