Do I see what you see?

A versatile material

My fascination for glass started when I as a child got my first pair of glasses, prescribed corrective lenses. What a discovery of suddenly being able to see clearly, and read! As a child, I played with everything so no one found it odd that I started playing with my glasses. The notion that the shape of things could be altered just by slightly angling the frame while looking through the glass was an amazing discovery. I could make my teacher pull faces and look funny. At the time I had of course no idea of how, or why. Only that I could not stop peering through those glasses, my new toy. Now I know that, right there, I had stumbled on the optical power of glass.
